Cross Check Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 19, 2026
Cross Check ("the app") is a flight-tracking and crew-meetup app for verified airline crew
members. This page explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and how it's
protected.
Information we collect
- Account info: your email address (used only to sign in via a one-time code — no password is stored).
- Identity: your real first and last name and current airline. Cross Check verifies crew members, so usernames or nicknames aren't allowed — this is what other crew see in shared meetups and chat.
- Employment verification: your employee number and a screenshot of your crew scheduling system (CCS) pairing view, submitted once to confirm you're an active crew member. Once your verification is approved, your employee number is permanently overwritten in our records (replaced with a note recording who approved it) — it's no longer needed once its one purpose is served. The verification screenshot itself is retained for reference by admins and an airline-scoped reviewer.
- Flight history: flight numbers, dates, times, and airports you add manually or via an uploaded pairing screenshot.
- Pairing screenshots: if you upload a screenshot to auto-fill a trip, it's sent to Anthropic's Claude API for one-time processing, then permanently deleted from our storage immediately after parsing succeeds. We don't keep a copy of this image.
- Home base & availability: the airport you set as your home base, and whether you've manually marked yourself "home" or "away." This is entirely self-reported — Cross Check does not access your device's GPS or precise location.
- Meetup activity: crew meetups you create or join, check-in status (on my way / arrived / safe at hotel), and chat messages within a meetup, visible to other participants of that same meetup.
- Friends, blocks, and shouts: friend connections you make, anyone you've blocked, and "shout" posts you choose to send about your upcoming layover city and dates.
- Reports: if you report another user, or another user reports you, that report's content (reason and any details provided) is retained for admin review.
- Feedback: bug reports or suggestions you submit through the app.
- Push notification tokens: used only to deliver notifications you've enabled — meetup activity, schedule reminders, or nearby-crew alerts.
Camera access is used only to scan a meetup's join QR code. Photo library access is used only to
select and upload a pairing or verification screenshot. Cross Check does not currently offer any
paid features and does not collect payment information.
How your information is used
Your information is used to provide the app's features: verifying your employment, tracking your
own flight history, and coordinating meetups and connections with crew members you choose to engage
with, including reviewing reports and enforcing community standards when necessary. We do not sell
your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share data with
- Supabase — our backend provider, hosting the database, authentication, and file storage.
- Anthropic — processes pairing screenshots you choose to upload, solely to extract flight details.
- Expo — delivers push notifications, if enabled.
- Google Maps — renders the route map feature (your flown routes plotted between airports). Standard technical data is exchanged with Google to load map tiles, per Google's own privacy policy.
- Verified reviewers — your employment verification submission is visible to admins and to a reviewer scoped to your specific airline, solely to confirm eligibility.
Other users only see information you've chosen to share with them: your name and check-in status to
people in a shared meetup, chat messages you send in a meetup, and shout posts based on the audience
you selected (friends, specific friends, or public). Blocking another user stops them from seeing
your shouts or open meetups, or sending you a friend request.
Data retention & account deletion
- Meetup chat messages are automatically deleted 7 days after the meetup's start time.
- Uploaded pairing screenshots are deleted immediately after parsing; verification screenshots are retained for admin/reviewer reference.
- You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account in the app — no need to contact us. This removes your profile, flights, friendships, and shouts. A meetup you created is handed off to another attendee if one exists, or deleted if you were the only participant.
- We may retain limited safety records (such as a ban or resolved report) after account deletion where necessary for legitimate safety or audit purposes.
Your choices
You can remove friends, block or unblock another user, and hide your shouts from within the app at
any time. You can also delete your entire account from Settings, as described above. For any other
request about your data, contact us at the email below.
Children's privacy
This app is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16.
International users
Cross Check is operated from the United States. If you use the app from another country, your
information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised accordingly.
